As a research project, New GSFA (Graduate School of Fine Art) was planned to create a mixed use building which combines education, office and dorms to create a design district based on environmental sustainability. Strategically New GSFA is focused on admitting a plenty of controlled natural lighting and ventilation while allowing a large foot print that enable a flow among each discipline.
Each planning phase is refined by simulation programs such as Lightscape and Flowvent. Shading device varies in response to the direction building faces. A modular for sun shading device is proposed to deliver a plenty of flexibility in response to a certain amount of lighting. Shading module is tested through lighting simulation, confirming the effectiveness and tolerance of usage.
